Goodness within all of us
“Let the little children come to me; do not hinder them. For it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.”
The innocence and sincerity of children is heartwarming and inspiring. They see the world in simple terms – here is a need and I want to help. Children have a strong capacity for empathy, often allowing them to connect to the emotions and experiences of other. They find great joy in giving and their acts of kindness are genuine.
Last month we told you about sweet Olivia, who instead of asking friends and family for birthday gifts, she asked for donations of food and toiletries for us. When she came to drop off the food, she bought a raffle ticket for a stuffed animal (unicorn) basket to support our efforts to fight against human trafficking with the SOAP Project.
Well, as luck (or we would like to think that the Lord rewarded her good deeds) would have it, she won! Continuing her selfless acts, when she came to pick up her unicorns, she brought a special treat of ice cream for our Residents – their favorite!!!
The selflessness of children, like Olivia, is a beautiful testament to the innate goodness within all of us. Thank you once again Olivia! May your good works be an example to everyone and continue to inspire more kindness in our world.
