A Drive-by Goodbye
While things are looking up with the COVID vaccines administered and the infection rate in our area decreasing, we are still limiting any visitors. Knowing that many of our Resident families and our friends would want to say goodbye to Mother Maria Christine and Mother Margaret Charles, we planned a surprise ‘Drive-by Goodbye’!
Our dear friends from the Holy Ghost Chapter 4977 of the Knights of Columbus arrived with dozens of signs and balloons to decorate all the cars.
It was a beautiful spring day and many Residents came to wave and greet our guests.
It wasn’t possible for all the Little Sisters across the Province to come and say goodbye, but we had them represented. Pictures of Sister from each of our Homes were put in the windows of our Bus and waving to the Mothers as it drove by.
The Knights ended the parade, marching with their banner.
At the end, Mother Maria Christine and Mother Margaret joined the parade for drive-by wave to all who were there.
Afterwards, Rick (one of our very favorite volunteer entertainers) brought a keyboard on wheels and parked on the sidewalk, leading us in song.
While it is always bittersweet to say goodbye, we had a wonderful time celebrating the beautiful time that we have spent with Mother Maria Christine and Mother Margaret Charles.
