International Rosary
On the Solemnity of the Feast of the Annunciation we honored Our Lady and paid tribute to the cultural diversity of our St. Joseph Home Family. Each culture representative by Residents and staff, were dressed in their native colors and led the rosary in their native language.
An entrance procession began the service, with staff bringing up a basket of flowers representing the beauty of individual created by God, a globe representing the unique traditions, cultures and gifts of each person and a flask of oil representing the healing touch of all who care and serve the needs of others.
Fr. Tom began the rosary and read a reflection before each decade. Our oldest Resident, 101 year old Anna started the first mystery – The Annunciation, with Fr. Damian in Italian. In between each decade our Resident Chime Choir accompanied us while we sang the chorus to Hail Mary; Gentle Woman.
Next was our Filipino group leading the 2nd mystery- the Visitation in Tagalog. The 3rd mystery – The Nativity was led by our Polish group. The Presentation of Jesus in the temple was led in Spanish, with the final mystery- the Finding of our Lord in the Temple led in English.
To end our service, Fr. Damien read the Prayer to St. Joseph by Pope Francis and we sang Immaculate Mary in English, Spanish and French.
Our Lady, Queen of all Nations, pray for us!
