Thank you, White Birch Lake Homeowners Association
Shortly before Christmas, the White Birch Lakes Homeowners Association organized a ‘Luminary Walk’. The subdivision surrounds 2 small lakes so they called the event “Light Up the Lakes”. They started this “Light Up the Lakes” event last year as a way to be safely outdoors and still celebrate the Christmas season. Each homeowner was given a bag filled with the components to put together luminary lights.
At 5:30 p.m. the neighborhood was lit up with luminaries and everyone strolled through the neighborhood or in a few cases decorated a lawnmower/golf cart and pulled a decorated cart full of people. Some homeowners offered refreshments, Christmas cookies or Chicago-style hot dogs at the end of their driveway. They had a hot chocolate station and a Letter to Santa station for the children. One neighbor set up an outdoor TV and some of the children watched Christmas movies.
Realizing that they are all very fortunate to be able to come together as a community to celebrate Christmas, they made sure they identified a group they could support. This year they chose us! A list of wish list items was given to all the homeowners. Throughout the day, donations were collected. They collected enough items to fill three SUVs.
We are so very grateful that the White Birch Lakes Homeowners Association took the opportunity of this “Luminary Walk” to help us. Their generosity will provide months of comfort to our Residents.
