Life-Saving Gifts

Life-Saving Gifts

It has been several weeks since the “Stay at Home” order was implemented here. Our Sisters and Staff are working diligently to keep our Residents safe. With the short supply of PPEs, we prayed for St. Joseph to help.

A friend forwarded a Facebook post describing Arlington Height’s High School District 214’s initiative of producing face shield on their 3D printers. We reached out to District 214 as well as Palatine High School District 211 to ask if they could help us. Both Districts responded with a resounding ‘absolutely’!

District 211 not only dropped off face shields, but since their schools were closed through the remainder of the year, they collected any excess PPEs from their five high schools and brought them to us- a treasure trove of gowns, face masks, ear probe covers and gloves.

It broke our hearts to hear that a District 214 student had died from COVID-19 and that another was hospitalized. We are praying for all of their families. The students and staff funneled their grief into producing life-saving face shields for us. We were more than touched when we saw the label on the band of the face shields reading ‘High School District 214 Cares ♥’.

We are proud to be a part of our community and as difficult as these days are, we are blessed to have the support of the young people, their teachers and administration. Thanks to our wonderful new friends at Districts 211 and 214, we are better prepared to keep our Residents and staff safe and as healthy as we can.

Please keep us in your prayers. We want nothing more than to keep everyone in our Home safe and healthy.
