I Renew With All My Heart
On the beautiful Feast of the Immaculate Conception our Little Sisters joined all Little Sisters around the world in renewing their Profession of their Vows.
“In the presence of the Blessed Trinity, and of Mary Immaculate, I renew with all my heart my profession of the evangelical counsels, and promise God to observe faithfully the vows of chastity, poverty, obedience and hospitality which I have made forever in the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Poor.”
This year, they also received a revised book of the Constitutions of the Little Sisters of the Poor (a guide in the following of Christ according to the vocation of a Little Sister of the Poor). The Constitution was revised by the Little Sisters at their General Chapter last year. Fr. Damien presented the Book of Constitutions to Mother, and Mother gave one to each Sister – with each one kissing it after it was received.
Fr. Damien, during his homily, thanked the Little Sisters for all their years of service. From Sr. Gemma’s 65 years to Sr. Amy Marie’s 13 years, the total number of years of service of the 16 Little Sisters renewing their vows in our Chapel was an astounding 1,150!
Father asked the question – where would we be without the Little Sisters? The clear answer – we certainly wouldn’t be here.
May God Bless all the Little Sisters at our Home and around the world, who selfless dedicate their lives to serving the needy elderly. And while doing that, touching the lives of all who encounter them!
