Bear Down Chicago Bears!!!
Chicago loves our sports teams. Diehard Bears fans pass down their loyalty from generation to generation. At noon on Sundays in Chicago (after everyone has gone to Mass) most every TV, radio and live streaming app is tuned into the Bears game – unless you’re lucky enough to attend the game. Soldier Field can barely contain the enthusiasm of the fans!!!
Through the generosity of Virginia McCaskey (owner of the Bears) and the McCaskey Family, several of our Residents got an extraordinary treat to not only attend a Bears game, but enjoy it in a luxury suite! It was especially wonderful for one of our Resident priests, Fr. Tom Rzepiela, who is a former chaplain of the Bears. Sr. Amy Marie and our pre-postulant Maria, were happy to accompany them!
It was not only an exciting game, but our suite was very busy with visitors. Pat McCaskey, VP of the Bears, stopped by to welcome our group.
In the next suite there were a group of fire fighters from Indiana. When they found out the Fr. Tom was in the house, they brought their newly appointed Fire Chief and asked Father if he would give them all a blessing.
True to the Bear’s spirit, it was an exciting game against the NFC North Conference Leader – Detroit Lions, but in the end the Bears dominated the game and pulled through a 28-13 victory!
Fr. Tom had offered Mass at 7 am Sunday morning – so we could leave early. The Mass was offered for the intentions of the McCaskey family. While we couldn’t possibly say that lead to a Bears victory, we fervently believe that our elderly Residents do have God’s ear.
Bear Down Chicago Bears!!!
