A Swing and many Prayers
Two Days before and three days after our Swing and a Prayer Golf Outing, it rained. However, with Sr. Mary Timothy in the Chapel praying for good weather, we were blessed with 70° and sunshine on the day of our event!
Our day began with a fabulous, hot off the grill, lunch. During lunch many of our guests tried to “Putt against a Sister.” Many were surprised as our Sisters had been practicing and were tough to beat!
After Mother Mercy thanked the golfers and wished them ‘good luck’ a shotgun starts began at noon. Mother Mercy and Mother Margaret Charles greeted the golfers at the Rubber Duck Drive hole. To sweeten the golfer’s swing, Sr. Christine handed out delicious sugar cookies that she worked tirelessly baking the night before.
During the afternoon, some of our Residents rode in carts with the Sisters to greet the golfers.
Cocktail hour was situated on the beautiful patio overlooking the course. Our generous guests responded to a Fund a Need for our general operating expenses with over $50,000 in donations.
The winners of the outing were finally announced. Each winner received a loaf of the Little Sisters’ famous banana bread. Congratulations to our winners:
1. Lowest Score – Chris Lotysza, Bill Fox, Tim Fox, Mike Micholetti, whose names will be engraved on the McDonald Cup.
2. Most Honest Score (Highest Score) – Al Sherbin, Bob Leah, Lois Leah and Tom Leah
3. Closest to the Pin (men) – Chris Carney
4. Closet to the Pin (women) – Sharon Clifford
