‘To Mary…I entrust the Sick’
In his message for the 29th World Day of the Sick and Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, Pope Francis tell us that this “is an opportunity to devote special attention to the sick and to those who provide them with assistance and care both in healthcare institutions and within families and communities. We think in particular of those who have suffered, and continue to suffer, the effects of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic. To all, and especially to the poor and the marginalized, I express my spiritual closeness and assure them of the Church’s loving concern.”
“To Mary, Mother of Mercy and Health of the Infirm, I entrust the sick, healthcare workers and all those who generously assist our suffering brothers and sisters. From the Grotto of Lourdes and her many other shrines throughout the world, may she sustain our faith and hope, and help us care for one another with fraternal love.”
In celebration of the World Day of the Sick, we had a special Mass and Anointing of the Sick on Thursday February 11. After anointing those in attendance at Mass, Fr. Tom and Fr. Damien went room to room anointing each Resident and any staff that they met along the way. Later that day, united with all who our struggling around the world, we offered a Lourdes Rosary asking for our Lady’s help and intercession.
