‘Start out with kindness and end up with love’
Shortly after Pope Francis was elected, he spoke to the Cardinals, “Dear Brothers, have courage! Half of us are old: I like to think of old age as the seat of wisdom in life. Old people have wisdom because they know they have journeyed through life … We must give this wisdom to young people: like good wine that improves with age, let us give young people this life’s wisdom.
We asked 100-year-old Monnie what advice she would give a young person who is just starting off in life based on what they have lived through and learned. She told us to ‘Start out with kindness and end up with love’.
Well you could certainly tell she has lived out her 100 years with kindness, as her friends and family filled our auditorium for her 100th birthday celebration.
Our good friend Rick, entertained us with all of Monnie’s golden oldie favorites from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and many more.
Wearing her birthday crown, special ‘100 year old’ birthday glasses, and gold birthday sash, Monnie thanked us all for our friendship and told us how special we are to her. We feel the same and are blessed that she is a part of our St. Joseph Home family.
With a token 3 candles on delicious chocolate birthday (with Happy Birthday written in Monnie’s native Italian) we jubilantly sang Happy Birthday!
May God Bless you Monnie! Thank you for sharing your love, your friendship and your wisdom with us each day!!!
