Happy Feast of Jeanne Jugan
On Wednesday, August 30, we joyfully celebrated the Feast of our Mother Foundress, St. Jeanne Jugan. We were blessed to have His Excellency, Bishop Ronald A. Hicks of the Diocese of Joliet celebrate the Solemnity Mass in our Chapel.
During his homily, Bishop Hicks spoke about ‘happiness’. He reminded us that true happiness is not found in material things, but in doing God’s will. Jeanne Jugan found her happiness in serving God’s elderly sons and daughters. Like Jeanne Jugan, Bishop encouraged us to wake up each morning and make a conscious effort to remember to do everything for God.
Later in the afternoon, our Association Jeanne Jugan organized bingo and ice cream – two of our favorites! Since it was a special celebration, our usual 25¢ winnings were increased four-fold to $1! Excitement was certainly in the air!
It was a beautiful day of happiness and celebration. In the words of St. Jeanne Jugan ‘We must always say: ‘Blessed be God. Thank you, my God. Glory be to God.’
