Erin go Bragh
“When Irish Eyes are Smiling, Sure, ’tis like the morn in Spring. In the lilt of Irish laughter, You can hear the angels sing. When Irish hearts are happy, All the world seems bright and gay. And when Irish eyes are smiling, Sure, they steal your heart away.”
St. Joseph’s Home is blessed to have many ethic heritages among our Residents, Little Sisters and staff. But, everyone was Irish on St. Patrick’s Day! Since March 17 fell on a Friday during Lent this year, we started celebrating a day early – with corn beef and cabbage, leprechauns and delicious scones!
The Irish Trinity Dancers came by to put on a 4 Star show in our Auditorium. Not only the Irish eyes were smiling as the adorable dancers, dressed in their beautiful costumes (some as young as 4 years old) expertly stepped and kicked to the music. While we couldn’t join them on stage, we showed our appreciation by clapping to the rhythm.
When the song, food and drink were gone, we left with the promise of our favorite Irish Blessing:
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
