For young women discerning a call to become Little Sisters of the Poor, the Postulate is the initial stage of formation as a daughter of St. Jeanne Jugan. Until 2005, our postulants were a yearly presence at St. Joseph’s Home. At that point, the Postulate moved to Jeanne Jugan Residence in Washington, D.C. Now, Washington, D.C. will soon be home to our Junior Professed Little Sisters who spend another year of formation deepening their knowledge of Church teachings and the charisma of St. Jeanne Jugan. Renovations are in progress for the Postulate to move to a new home at St. Martin’s Home in Baltimore, MD.
Until the renovations are complete in Baltimore, we are delighted to once again host the Postulate and welcome our two postulants, Grace and Jamie. Working alongside of the Little Sisters, they will experience and learn the joys of hospitality and the spirituality of the Congregation.
Around Easter time, their journey will continue in Queens, NY for the final three months of the postulancy in preparation for the two year novitiate. At the conclusion of these two years of prayer and study in New York, if they sense that God is indeed calling them to this life, the young women then make the first Profession of vows.
Please join us in praying for Grace and Jamie!
