One morning Sister Mary Alphonsus was reading the St. Theresa Parish bulletin. She noticed that our good friend, Father Matthew Jamesson, Associate Pastor at St. Theresa Parish, would be throwing out the first pitch at a Kane County Cougars game in Geneva, IL on August 11. With that bit of information, the Activity Department decided that we would go to the game and support Father Matthew (who worked at St. Joseph’s Home as a CNA before entering the seminary).
We had a fantastic time! The first inning lasted 45 minutes! The Joliet Jackhammers were 1-2-3 out! But the Jackhammers had a difficult time getting the Cougars out. By the end of the first inning the score was Cougars- 5, Jackhammers -0! We knew this was going to be a long game, and felt pretty confident that Cougars would win. We didn’t get home until 11 p.m., and were certainly tired the next morning, but it was worth the trip.
Unfortunately, our seats were not the best seats in the house – we were in direct line of the lefty batter’s foul balls. Fortunately, there were enough kids around to catch the balls so no one got hurt.
We were able to visit briefly and take photos with Father Matthew and Father Tim Fairman (Pastor at St. Theresa Parish). A good time was had by all!
