Residents and friends filling our chapel on the feast of the Assumption were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by the missionary image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. St. Joseph’s Home was a last minute unplanned stop on her visit around the Chicago area. Our Lady was joyfully welcomed with open arms and many, many, many prayers.
Blessed Pope John Paul II called Our Lady of Guadalupe the Star of the New Evangelization. He prophesied that through her intercession, the Gospel would penetrate the hearts of the people of America and that the light of the Gospel of Christ will go forth from the Image.
This beautiful missionary image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, one of four that has traveled worldwide and visited many parishes, nursing homes, schools and abortion centers in every state of our country, represents the ongoing spiritual presence of the Mother of God. In city after city, devotees report miracles and conversions when the Missionary Image is present.
We were blessed to have this image in our chapel for several days. As the word spread that the image was present here, Residents, Little Sisters, staff, and visitors prayed around the clock, venerating Our Lady of Guadalupe.
At this moment in time when moral, spiritual and economic problems, plague our country, Our Lady of Guadalupe brings to us the promise of faith, hope, consolation and a true reverence for life. Our Lady of Guadalupe; pray for us!
“I feel drawn to the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe because her face is full of kindness and simplicity…it calls me.”
– Blessed John Paul II
