新年快 , or Happy Chinese New Year!
There is one day of the year that we can eat with chopsticks, get our fortune read through a message in a cookie, and have a visit from a friendly dragon! It’s Chinese New Year! On Thursday, February 19th, we celebrated Chinese New Year. This year is the Year of the Goat/Lamb.
We were treated to a delicious traditional Chinese meal of stir-fried vegetables, rice, egg rolls, and fortune cookies expertly made by our own employees. While eating, we enjoyed hearing traditional Chinese music and watching a PowerPoint about China, with a few trivia questions.
The auditorium was transformed into a bit of China which included a wall decoration of a large cotton-ball lamb grazing in a field. Another wall decoration was a beautiful scene of Chinese buildings including the Great Wall of China.
The highlight of the afternoon was the visit from our friendly dragon who was welcomed by all. We are grateful to the Little Sisters, the kitchen and dining room staff, volunteers and activity department for all their work to make this another successful Chinese New Year!
Happy Chinese New Year!
