The sun was shining inside and out of our Home on Thursday, May 19, as Mother Margaret Charles arrived! Traveling all the way from Totawa, NJ, Mother arrived to be welcomed to Illinois by native President, Abe Lincoln. Entering the lobby, Mother was greeted with a sea of smiling Residents and staff faces, applauding and cheering shouts of welcome.
Wanting to make Mother Margaret Charles feel at Home and get acquainted with her new surroundings, many Residents spoke about the famous people and shared some endearing facts of Palatine. Minnie and Mickey Mouse then appeared, leading us in rousing rendition of “We are Family”. Mother Provincial Maria Christine took Mother Margaret Charles around and introduced her to everyone.
As a special treat, our good friends at classicgoodhumortruck.com were waiting to distribute delicious ice cream to all. Taking advantage of the beautiful day, many of us sat outside to enjoy our Good Humor treats.
The festivities continued on Friday, May 20, with a welcome reception. Celebrating the ethnic diversity of our Residents and staff, dancing, singing, a skit and an appearance by Shamus the Shamrock kept us all entertained throughout the afternoon.
We look forward to getting to know Mother Margaret Charles and helping her to get to know us. Welcome to St. Joseph’s Home, Mother. We are a truly blessed family. We are so happy to have you with us.
Welcome Mother Margaret Charles
