Thank you to our Brother Knights of Columbus!
The Little Sisters of the Poor have cared for the needy elderly through two world wars, the Spanish flu pandemic, the Great Depression and numerous natural disasters. With the spread of the coronavirus, we have continually fought to protect our Residents, who are most at risk. Hour by hour, day by day, we work diligently to care for our Residents and keep them safe. Honestly, we couldn’t continue without your help.
It is hard to believe what has transpired since the pandemic hit over two years ago. Like a thief in the night, it stole our normalcy and changed our way of life. Our brother Knights of Columbus have truly been our life support, as we navigate through these difficult times. We are so grateful for all that they have done, and continue to do for us, walking with us to help in any way that they can.
In an effort to keep our Residents safe and prevent infection, we have adapted a recommended policy of serving bottled water. With over 200 meals served per day, we have been going through cases of water. To help us, on Saturday, April 30, the Holy Ghost Council #4977 organized a Water Bottle Drive that collected over 11,500 bottles of water and $5,550. Despite a gloomy rainy day, grateful Residents and Little Sisters greeted the donors as they drove to our front door to drop off the donations. Not only did the tireless Knights unloaded the water from each car, they transported, organized and stacked the bottles in our storeroom.
Our sincere gratitude and grateful prayers go out to our dear brother Knights of Columbus and to everyone who participated. This will be a tremendous help for us.
Thank you, Brother Knights!
