It’s hard to keep a surprise in our Home of 98 Residents, 120 employees, 40 Association Jeanne Jugan (AJJ) members and over a hundred volunteers. But, miraculously we did it! On Thursday, June 22, we surprised Mother Maria Christine with a Talent Show in celebration of her Feast Day.
Jeanne Jugan (Summer Hospitality intern, Katie) greeted Mother Maria Christine as Mother exited the elevator from the convent and led Mother to the decorated auditorium.
Met by a huge applause, Mother was escorted to the front row and the show began. The Talents were many, from a Hawaiian Hulu dance, to beautiful rendition of “Edelweiss”, to a toe tapping (more like stomping) “Grease Lightening” dance performance, to a walk along the “Yellow Brick Road.”
Our intention was to show our love and family spirit to Mother Maria Christine. In the preparations and in the joy and laughter, we found that our efforts produced a double blessing. The family spirit and love were contagious and we found ourselves becoming even more united as a family to each other.
Talents, Treasures and a True Family Spirit
