Summer Carnival
I’ll sing to the sun in the sky,
I’ll sing till the sun rises high,
Carnival time is here,
Magical time of year,
And as the time draws near,
Dreams lift my heart!
– Carnival by Perry Como
All of our hearts were certainly lifted when the carnival arrived at our Home in celebration of Sr. Josephine’s 25th Jubilee! Cotton candy, popcorn and corn dogs tickled our palates while we tested our skills at the carnival games. From dunking a rocket in a basketball hoop, to grabbing a flock of floating rubber ducks swimming in an inflatable pool, we expertly succeeded as evidenced by our pink flamingos and other collection of carnival prizes.
But, the most popular game of all was the dunk tank. Our brave volunteers, Carol Broderick, Julie Towers and Doug Olson were good sports as we repeatedly plunged them in the tank of (cold) water.
Before we ended, we had a chance to have our picture taken with a photo cutout poster. The poster had a cartoon picture of a body builder and Hawaiian dancer with the heads cutout. Peeking our heads through the opening, we made funny faces and later received a picture souvenir to keep us laughing for many days to come.
