Along with the colorful foliage and milder weather, Fall is also the time for Oktoberfest celebrations. Our Home is no exception! Thanks to our friends at PATH (Palatine Assisting Through Hope), we were treated to a delightful taste of the Bavarian culture.
Although the cool October day caused the relocation of our party from the patio into the dining room, our spirits weren’t deterred. The PATH volunteers quickly and expertly went to work relocating the patio decorations including rehanging the beautiful circles of streamers from the dining room ceiling.
A German flag was hung as a backdrop and various German accessories were provided for an Oktoberfest photo opportunity before dinner. Our taste buds were treated to appetizers of soft pretzels with cheese and freshly grilled skewered shrimp, along with Chocolate martinis (not really German but a favorite none the less), craft beer, wine, and soda. A delicious hot-off-the-grill dinner followed, with bratwursts and hamburgers, accompanied by German potato salad and corn on the cob.
All evening the room was filled with good cheer as we laughed, sang songs and just enjoyed each other’s company. We are so grateful to our dear friends at PATH (who really know how to throw a party), and worked so hard to make this a perfect Oktoberfest celebration for us!!
