Mother’s Day Tea

  • May 17, 2017

One of our favorite traditions is our Mother and Daughter Tea. It is a Mother’s Day celebration of our ladies who are mothers, or like mothers to us! In preparation for this popular event, we received a special treat from students of Tricoci University who traveled to our Home to give us manicures. Wanting to look our best, it was a full house as we looked forward to the future Nail Technicians working their magic on us.

The Activity Room was abuzz and a line of ladies (and one gent) patiently waited to enjoy a professional manicure. The appointments were staggered every 30 minutes and EVERYONE was ON TIME!!! What a treat to have these young professional ladies provide us with such a wonderful spa treatment. The beautiful nail polish colors and a fabulous hand massage were such a delight. After our hand spa appointment was concluded, we were treated to a refreshing glass of wine and an assortment of treats.

On Saturday May 13, the auditorium was exquisitely decorated with an eclectic collection of teapots and tea cups for our annual Mother and Daughter Tea, in honor of Mother’s Day. This charming event is hosted by the Inverness Women’s Garden Club each year. These dedicated ladies have been serving tea and cakes at this event for many years.

Upon entering the auditorium we were serenated by a great singing group called “The Friendlies.” They sang some of our favorite songs such as; Moon River, Somewhere Over the Rainbow and (of course) Tea for Two. Along with the beautiful teacups, a lovely spring flower centerpiece and colorful plates and napkins greeted us as we took our seats at each table. We couldn’t help but smile as we were given a corsage, compliments of a generous benefactor.

Bishop Gerald Kicanas, Bishop of Tucson, AZ was in town visiting his mother, Eva. He led us in a prayer and stayed to enjoy the festivities. Carrying the beautiful teapots filled with hot water, the Garden Club ladies filled the cups at each table and served us delicious tea cakes and cookies. While enjoying the treats and listening to the delightful music, we had the opportunity to have our photo taken in the Mother’s Day Chair of Honor.

What a wonderful afternoon we had with our daughters, grand-daughters, nieces, friends and yes even our sons!
