Unique Visitors
On Saturday, February 15, we were honored to have miniature horses visit our Home! St. Theresa School, led by eighth grader, Ella O’Brien, sponsored the miniature horse visit by Soul Harbour Ranch in Barrington.
We were visited by Unique, who was born on 4/25/2004. Unique is only 28” tall. In her youth, she was a Show Horse. We were also visited by Faith, Unique’s daughter, who was born on 4/22/2013, and is 30” tall. Faith became a registered therapy horse in March of 2016.
Miniature horses were selectively bred starting as early as the 1600’s. They were used in coal mines, and as pets for the wealthy. The miniature horse’s main characteristic is the ability to gently interact with people. “Soul Harbour’s mission is to enrich lives by promoting unconditional love and healing of the animal-human bond, while advocating for animal therapy standards of excellence”
As you can see by the pictures, the Residents truly enjoyed the visits by Unique and Faith!
Thank you, St. Theresa School and Ella O’Brien for sponsoring the miniature horses’ visit!
