Mardi Gras
The last 12 months have been long. Not only have we dealt with restrictions due to COVID, but our winter weather is breaking records for frigid temperatures and continual snowfall. We needed a celebration and Mardi Gras was a perfect opportunity!
It felt like New Orleans as we entered our dining rooms. Decorated in Mardi Gras purple, yellow and green, with the delicious aroma of gumbo filling the air. King cakes and hurricane drinks rounded off our meal.
New Orleans had to cancel their historic Mardi Gras parade, but our staff graciously dressed in traditional Mardi Gras costumes and we held our own parade. They danced and paraded in each of our three dining rooms, greeting our Residents and passing out sweets.
With “When the Saints Come Marching In” playing we went back to our rooms with a little dance in our steps. This Mardi Gras party gave us one last celebration before Ash Wednesday and the start of the Lenten Season.
