“We know that human life is sacred and inviolable. Every civil right rests on the recognition of the first and fundamental right, that of life, which is not subordinate to any condition, be it quantitative, economic or, least of all, ideological. Pope Francis
On Sunday, January 15, we joined the thousands of men, women and children that gathered Chicago at Federal Plaza to show our support to defend and protect all human life. Busloads of people traveled from all over the Midwest as far away as South Dakota to serve as visual and vocal advocates, steadfastly uniting to stand up for the sanctity of human life.
Featured speaker Cardinal Blaise Cupich and a host of dignitaries including Congressmen Dan Lipinski, Peter Roskam and Darin LaHood; Motivational Speaker and Chicago Bears Board Member, Pat McCaskey; and Pro Life Speaker and Abortion Survivor Gianna Jesson, spoke before the March. Each proclaimed to the cheering crowds the affirmation that life is sacred, that the right to life is fundamental and encouraged us to continue to fight and gave their pledges to defend life.
Marching in peace through the streets of Chicago, we chanted, sang and prayed our commitment to help change society’s perception that abortion and euthanasia are solutions. It was truly inspiring to see double-decker buses filled with hundreds of young people chanting “Life is Sacred”.
Along the way, we saw many familiar friends, including Joe Schiedler, National Director of the Pro-Life Action League.
And, we met new friends including a group from Students for Life. We were also touched by the many people that stopped to thank us for our ministry to the elderly.
Together we stand in hope and prayer that everyone in the world will open their eyes and truly see and understand that Life is a Gift that should be protected and cherished.
