It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

  • December 6, 2016

Mother Nature thought that 60⁰ was not suitable for the Christmas Season in Palatine. What started last week as balmy weather with unseasonably warm temperatures, ended with a record snowfall. But, what is Christmas without snow?

With the outside looking more like Christmas, we are in the Christmas Spirit and busy decorating inside. Colorful twinkling lights are being hung on the Christmas trees around our Home. Christmas Wreaths adorn the doors and a Christmas Village has popped up in the auditorium. Our favorite carols can be heard resonating through the halls.

Also getting in to the Christmas Spirit (and busy baking season) is our dietary staff. The sweet aromas of vanilla, cinnamon, and ginger, are escaping from the kitchen, teasing many a taste bud.

But do not fret, there is enough for all. You can buy these cookies and many other delicious treats on the bakery rack located near the reception desk.

Our dedicated volunteers have transformed our Gift Shop into Christmas Shopping Central. Need a unique gift for someone special? Visit our gift shop which is loaded with ‘one of kind’ treasures, suitable for anyone on your Christmas list.

Christmas Gift Shop

You would think that this is the North Pole, as many Secret Santas have been dropping off gifts for our Residents. Anne Marie Thomas, Theresa Watkins and Mary Salm filled every available space under the tree in our lobby with bags and bags packed with personal care products collected from the parishioners at St. Edna’s Parish in Arlington Heights. Ramona Tyack, Debbie Rorhrwasser, Jenny Spethmann and Jane Van Wolvelear from PATH (Palatine Assisting Through Hope) gave Sr. Pauline a gift bag for each Resident, along with baskets of gloves, scarves and hats.

PATH

We are so grateful for the generosity of all of our friends who help us make this Christmas Season so special for our Residents. We know that we could not continue without your prayers, volunteer hours and financial support. In gratitude you may be assured that all of your intentions will be brought in prayer to the manger in our Chapel.
