Wonderful Mother
By Pat O’Reilly
God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine.
And He molded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.
One of our favorite traditions is the Mother’s Tea. It is a time that we celebrate our Mothers and those ladies who are like Mothers to us. On Saturday May 12, the auditorium was decorated in soft pastel colored tables with centerpieces of teapots filled with flowers. As each guest arrived, they were given a beautiful wrapped box filled with fine chocolates.
Once seated, we enjoyed chocolate covered strawberries, cookies, pastries. We had our choice of a wide variety of teas served from our eclectic collection of teapots, plus coffee was available for the non-tea drinkers.
A strolling violinist stopped at each table and serenaded us with our favorite songs. His repertoire was quite wide as he was able to expertly play each of our requests.
In one corner of the room was a lighted arch lined with pastel fabric and large spring flowers. This nook provided a perfect backdrop for preserving the memories of the afternoon with a photo.
All too soon the afternoon came to an end, but the love and appreciation of our Wonderful Mothers go on and on…
