Happy 60th Jubilee Sr. Genevieve!
We happily celebrated Sr. Genevieve’s 60th Jubilee on Saturday, April 29. One of 13 children, Sister entered the Congregation of the Little Sisters as soon as she completed high school — following in the footsteps of her older sister (Sr. Elizabeth Ann, lsp). She had the role of Collecting Sister for many years, spending a long period of time begging for the Residents in our Home in Richmond, VA.
Little Sisters and Residents gathered in the Chapel for a Mass of Thanksgiving for Sr. Genevieve’s 60 years of service as a Little Sister of the Poor. Fr Tom Rzepiela, our Resident Priest, presided.
With Mother Mercy at her side, Sr. Genevieve, renewed her vows “… I, Sr. Genevieve of St. Margaret Mary, renew with all my heart my profession of the evangelical counsels, which I made for the first time on April 24, 1966, and promise God to observe faithfully the vows of Chastity, Poverty, Obedience and Hospitality, which I have made forever in the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Poor.”
At the end of Mass Fr. Tom, gave Sr. Genevieve a special blessing. With a smiling Sr. Genevieve leading, the Sisters then processed out.
Congratulations Sr. Genevieve, may God bless you a hundredfold for your unselfish service and many years of love and care to our dear elderly.
Happy 60th Jubilee Sr. Genevieve!
