Happy 100th Birthday, Gertrude!
On November 3, surrounded by family and friends, Gertrude Koslowski celebrated her 100th Birthday!!! Gertrude was born in Chicago at St. Mary’s Hospital, 8 days before World War I ended. She had 3 brothers and one sister and is the first one in 4 generations of the family to live to be 100. When Gertrude was growing up, there was no indoor plumbing, no cars, no vaccines, no television, let alone the internet. She has seen much change in her 100 years and spoke about all of it. She was a member of St. Hyacinth parish with her husband and 6 children (her husband and 2 of her children have gone to their eternal home). She has 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Gertrude was blessed to be a stay at home mom, however, whenever they needed to buy a car, she would work retail to help with the expenses. She lived independently until the age of 98 when she became a part of our St. Joseph’s family.
Joining her to celebrate this day were her daughter Sue and her husband George, son Dave and partner Diana, daughter Gloria and husband Dick, her oldest son, Timothy and his girlfriend Linda who traveled from Minnesota be here for this joyous occasion.
Gertrude’s smile and joyful disposition brings such happiness to our Home. We are blessed to have been able to celebrate this milestone occasion with her.
Happy 100th Birthday, Gertrude!
