Damp Course, No Dampened Spirits
Wynstone Golf Course in North Barrington always provides us with the perfect setting for our Swing and a Prayer Golf Outing, but this year the weather had other ideas. On and off spurts of rain throughout the day may have dampened the course, but it couldn’t dampen our spirits!
Our 15th Annual Outing started off as usual with a fantastic barbeque lunch as guests were able to “Putt Against a (masked) Sister.” With a shotgun start-scramble-mix game play to encourage social distancing, the golfers were able to participate in many games, including our Hole-in-One Competition where one of our golfers hit his ball right into Sister Amy Marie’s golf cart, landing just under her foot (no Sisters were harmed)!
As the day went on, there were points where it was gloomy and wet, but our persistent golfers remained at play sheltering under umbrellas, golf carts, or just plain risking it all in the rain.
Thanks to the patience and generosity of our many sponsors and 108 guests, and the hard work of the Sisters, volunteers, and our Golf Committee, we persevered and raised much-needed funds for our Residents. And a special thank you to the staff and board of the Club at Wynstone, who not only were well prepared with back-up plans, but also jumped through hoops to make the day run smoothly.
