The goblins, fairy princesses, super heroes and ghosts showed up in numbers as they paraded and entertained us on Halloween. The children from St. Theresa’s school children dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes were much more of a delight than a scare as they sang to us from our stage on Halloween morning! Before lunch, the Great Pumpkin (Fr. Tom Rzepiela) led a parade of St. Thomas school children through our halls and the dining room. It was a ‘treat’ to have him and his school children join us for lunch, especially when they handed out candy to us!
On All Saints Day, we were happy to welcome the children of Our Lady Queen of Peace Homeschooling Group dressed as their favorite saints. It was apparent that they worked hard to learn about their favorite saint. The costumes were very detailed and the level of excitement in their voice was inspiring as they explained the life story of their saint.
We couldn’t help but think of the words of St. Jeanne Jugan “Little, very little, be very little before God” as we observed the beauty and innocence of our little guests.
