Discerning Hearts
As a young woman St. Jeanne Jugan realized that God had a plan for her life, and yet for many years she had no idea where he was leading her. Years went by before Jeanne saw the unfolding of God’s plan.
Sr. Maria Lourdes is guiding three young women who are discerning if God’s Will is leading them to live their life as a Little Sister of the Poor. This Pre-Postulancy stage of formation will last six months and help to facilitate a mutual knowledge between the young women candidates and our Congregation, which is so very important in the discernment of a vocation.
On Wednesday, July 31, we had a Mass welcoming Catherine who came form from Akron, Ohio, Elise from St. Paul, Minnesota and Laura from Miles City, Montana. Our Chaplain, Fr. Damien Graziano, asked the congregation to lift the hands to pray for the candidates, that God will bless them and show them His plan in their lives.
While they are here, Catherine, Laura and Elise will live, work and pray side by side with us. Under the direction of Sr. Maria Lourdes, they will further their understanding of our life, our spirituality and our deep commitment to hospitality. They will be participating in classes at the University of St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, as well as sessions here, which will enable them to grow in their faith and in their knowledge of Religious Life.
Please join us in praying for these young women and all those who are open to God’s call for a religious vocation.
