On Tuesday November 1st our home schooling group, Our Lady Queen of Peace Home Schooling Group, celebrated All Saints Day with the Residents at The Little Sisters of the Poor’s St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly.

We had such a wonderful time! We first attended Mass with the Residents with our kids dressed as Saints. The Mass was beautiful with a wonderful homily by Bishop McDonald calling to mind how we all should strive to be saints in heaven like so many before us even if not raised to the altar.

Then we visited the Residents in their dining rooms. The kids were able to talk with Residents and share with them about the Saints they were dressed as. It was really wonderful to meet so many wonderful people who live at St. Joseph’s Home!

At 2pm our group held a dessert reception for the Residents. Our kids served Residents desserts and beverages before doing a presentation. In the presentation our kids told the Residents which Saint they were dressed as and a bit about their Saint. Then the kids sang a song for the Residents.  It is truly a blessing to spend All Saints Day with the Residents of St. Joseph’s Home.

Here are some comments from some of our kids:

“Over the many years of coming to the All Saints Day party I enjoy recognizing the Residents and meeting new ones!” – Faustina age 13

“It’s really fun giving out candy to the Residents.” – Jacinta age 8

“It’s really fun telling who you are dressed up as.” -LukeJohn age 10

“I always look forward to celebrating All Saints Day with the Residents.” -Emily age 13

“I want to live there! The people are really friendly!” -Martha age 9
