We are so happy to have Fr. John Wauck join us as our guest speaker at the Amazing Grace Gala that will be held on Sunday, April 6th at the Stonegate Banquet Centre in Hoffman Estates.
Fr. John Wauck is an American priest of Opus Dei. A native of Chicago, he studied Renaissance history and literature at Harvard University and philosophy at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, where he has lived for the last nineteen years. He teaches a course on Literature and Communication of the Faith at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (in 2005, this course was aired as a 13-part television series, called Mirror of the Soul on EWTN) and organizes an international seminar entitled Poetics and Christianity. He has also lectured at the Roman campuses of the University of Dallas, Gordon College (Orvieto), and St. Thomas More College. He has written for many publications, including The American Scholar, The Christian Science Monitor, and The New Criterion. He has appeared frequently as a television commentator on matters dealing with the Catholic Church on CNN, BBC, ABC, and CBS. He can also be found as a contributor on Church matters in Reuters, New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Time magazine, and U.S. News and World Report. Fr. Wauck served as an on-set adviser for the film “There Be Dragons” dealing in part with the life of Opus Dei founder St. Josemaría Escrivá. Before his priestly ordination, he worked as an editor of The Human Life Review and as a speechwriter for the Attorney General of the United States, William Barr, and for the Democratic Governor of Pennsylvania, Robert P. Casey.
In 1994, a group of our friends worked together to organize the first Amazing Grace Gala. Over the years this, our largest fundraiser, has been a tremendous support for us as we try to meet the challenge of reduced government support and increased operating expenses. The evening will be filled with delicious food, exciting silent and live auction items, a wonderful speaker and most importantly, good fellowship. Won’t you join us and be an “Amazing Grace” for our elderly Residents. Make your reservations today.
Welcome Fr. John Wauck
