The Little Flowers Club is a group of girls ages 5 to 10 in the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Homeschool Group. We meet monthly to learn about virtues through scripture, saints’ biographies, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The program is based on the 1906 Catholic classic “The Catholic Girls’ Guide” by Fr. F.X. Lasance, and the spirituality of St. Therese, the Little Flower of Liseux. We decided to combine Saint Valentine’s Day with learning about St. Cecilia and the virtue of Piety this month, and to show our love for Our Lord and Our Lady by remembering the wonderful works of the Little Sisters of the Poor! We made the Sisters a Saint Valentine prayer card, Scripture verse craft, and pretty bag filled with some yummy treats to thank the sisters for their piety and devotion to helping the elderly to live lives of dignity. We have promised to pray during Lent for the Little Sisters and St. Joseph’s Home to thrive amidst our current uncertain social conditions. We had a lot of fun putting together the little “prayer bags” for the Sisters!
