“Truly you have formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb. I give you thanks that I am fearfully wonderfully made; wonderful are your works. My soul also you knew full well; nor was my frame unknown to you. When I was made in secret, when I was fashioned in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my actions; in your book they are all written; my days were limited before one of them existed.” Psalm 139
One Sunday morning in July, our Activity Director, Cindy DeLuca, and her husband were visiting with a friend. Cindy knew that her friend’s brother had started a pregnancy crisis center several years ago, but didn’t give it much thought. Knowing that Kathy, a former Activity Assistant (now a Volunteer), makes wonderful baby blankets, Cindy asked if the center would have use for them. That’s when it all began.
Cindy found out that the Fox Valley Pregnancy Center opened twenty-five years ago. Their mission is to assist women who are unprepared for pregnancy to calmly and confidently explore their options, empowering them to make healthy, life-affirming decisions through education and compassionate support services. Twenty-five years ago the only option in the Elgin area for women facing an unprepared pregnancy was an abortion clinic. The Fox Valley Pregnancy Center helps women realize there are other options! They also have another clinic in the St. Charles area. The clinics provide education, mentoring, tests, ultra-sounds, and opportunities for the women to participate in various programs earning baby bucks for items in their gift shop.
Cindy reached out to Trish, the Administrator of the Fox Valley Pregnancy s Center. Trish requested that we partner in prayer with the Fox Valley Pregnancy Center and their clients. Many Residents were happy and excited to become involved. Every Friday at 3:00, we meet together and pray for the women and staff at the clinics. Some of the women have asked us to pray for special intentions. They are thrilled to know that they are supported in prayer by us. And, they are very grateful for the beautiful baby blanket that Kathy has completed for the Fox Valley Pregnancy Center!
So, just one curious question turned into a wonderful ministry!
