There is one day of the year that Residents and staff at St. Joseph’s Home can eat with chopsticks, get their fortune read through a message in a cookie, and get a visit from a friendly dragon! It’s Chinese New Year! On Monday, January 23, St. Joseph’s Home celebrated Chinese New Year. Residents ate a traditional Chinese meal of stir-fried vegetables, rice, egg rolls, and fortune cookies. While eating, the Residents enjoyed hearing traditional Chinese music. A few Residents took the time to decode two “secret messages” written in Chinese and English. The high light of the afternoon was the visit from our friendly dragon who was welcomed by all. We are grateful to the kitchen, housekeeping, and activity departments for all their work and to the Palatine Woman’s Club who came in to serve our Residents.
新年好 – Happy Chinese New Year
