The Garden Club of Inverness is the oldest club in Inverness, IL. With over 90 members, they perform most of their charity work for St. Joseph’s Home. Their beautiful floral creations can be seen throughout our Home. Brightening up many Resident’s rooms are the colorful, lovingly designed spring arrangements. The centerpieces they made for our Mother/Daughter Tea were a perfect accompaniment to the good company and delicious treats. Christmas and Easter are extra special with the huge poinsettias and lilies they give to us to decorate our Home! Their last event of the season is “Garden Therapy” where a group of friendly Club members come to St. Joseph’s Home to help plant live flowers with the Residents.
It was supposed to have rained on the day of their final event, and the Garden Club almost cancelled. But, refusing to spoil the day, the sun out-shined the clouds and the weather ended up being perfect! The Club members were so happy because this was one of their favorite events of the year! After working hard deciding on the arrangement, digging holes and planting the flowers, our Residents were treated to refreshing lemonade and delicious homemade potato chip cookies.
The Club’s last project of the season was definitely a success! The fruits of their labor can not only be seen in the two beautifully designed planters of flowers, but also in the two large potted tomato plants! What a wonderful day of enjoying the outdoors, beautiful flowers and good company with the Garden Club of Inverness members.
