On Monday, June 30th, the Supreme Court granted a historic victory for religious liberty ruling in favor of Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialties of Pennsylvania. “This is a landmark decision for religious freedom. The Supreme Court recognized that Americans do not lose their religious freedom when they run a family business,” said Lori Windham, Senior Counsel for The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty and counsel for Hobby Lobby.
For the past nine days we (along with all the Little Sisters of the Poor Homes in the US) have been praying a Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help for her intercession for a positive outcome to the Little Sisters lawsuit against the HHS contraception mandate. We believe that the Hobby Lobby victory is an important first step!
A busload of Residents & Little Sisters went to the Palatine Hobby Lobby to pray a Litany of Thanksgiving and sing songs of praise. Deacon Tom Dunne and his wife, Kaylyn, from St. Thomas of Villanova Parish were driving by and stopped to join us.
As shoppers passed us to enter the store, their smiles and “thumbs up” were welcomed expressions of their support. After a heartfelt rendition of “God Bless America,” we went into the store to do some 4th of July shopping ourselves. Topping off the steamy summer afternoon, we treated ourselves to a Dairy Queen to enjoy on the ride Home.
Congratulations Hobby Lobby!
