“That best portion of a good man’s life; his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.”
-William Wordsworth English Poet
Have you ever had an “Advent Angel”? The way it works, is every day during Advent (and throughout the year) you receive a gift and have no idea who the “angel” giving it to you is. Well, we have three special angels, Mary and Nicole Zermatten, and Jean Vilmur. Every month these angels prepare Birthday bags and greeting cards for each Resident celebrating his/her birthday that month. The bags are beautifully decorated, and filled with wonderful gifts. These women wanted to volunteer and help in some way, but couldn’t commit to physically coming in to volunteer. Instead, they have a “behind the scenes” ministry.
They purchase gifts and gift bags, fill them, decorate them, add a greeting card with a beautiful message, and drop them off without wanting recognition. Mary, Nicole, and Jean have been doing this for almost two years. We were able to catch up with Mary and Nicole this month and caught them in the act of delivering the gift bags! Their ministry has bought so much joy and happiness. Our Residents are thrilled to receive a gift for their birthday; and feel much love knowing that someone cares enough to make these beautiful gifts. They are grateful beyond words. We hope that Mary, Nicole and Jean realize that their acts of kindness and love are remembered!
