On Friday, August 16th , the Little Flowers Girls Club from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Crystal Lake, IL paid us a visit. The Little Flowers are dedicated to teaching young girls Catholic virtues under the guidance of St. Theresa the Little Flower. It is incredible how much St. Theresa and St. Jeanne Jugan have in common! S
t. Theresa believed that “Jesus does not so much look at the greatness of our actions, nor even at their difficulty, but at the love with which we do them.” St. Jeanne Jugan also strongly believed that “we should do all through love.” Recognizing the similarities of our missions, the Little Flowers felt a calling to come and share their love with our elderly Residents during our month-long celebration of St. Jeanne Jugan!
We were waiting in the lobby to greet the Little Flowers as soon as they arrived. After spending some time getting to know each other, we went to Mass. The Little Flowers spread out in the Chapel sitting with their new friends (Residents and Little Sisters). After Mass they met Fr. Auger and Sr. Mary Timothy talked to them about St. Jeanne Jugan.
The Little Flowers visited each floor and handed out beautiful handmade cards to each and every one they met! The front of each card had a picture of St. Jeanne Jugan and on the back was a uniquely designed flower. As a special treat, the children sang a lovely song about St. Theresa in each of the dining rooms. It warmed our hearts to see these smiling young faces spreading such joy in Home. We look forward to their next visit!
