In our trek to make the most out of summer, we took a trip to Crystal Lake. Located in Crystal Lake, IL, the scenic Crystal Lake is approximately 230 acres of beautiful blue water. It’s a popular local destination for fishing, boating, swimming and skating in the winter. Crystal Lake is very handicap friendly. During past visits, we were able to take advantage of paddle boats and handicap flotation devices.
Our anticipation was damped a bit when we arrived to find out that the bacteria levels in the lake prohibited us and everyone else from going in the water. Not to be deterred, our creative and quick thinking activity staff improvised.
Enjoying the lake view, we set up our beach chairs and had lunch. A competitive bags tournament followed. Beating off the afternoon heat, we had a lively water balloon toss. And a stroll along the pier almost felt like we were on the water.
Even though we couldn’t take a dip in the water, we certainly enjoyed the company and the beautiful scenery.
