“And the Oscar goes to…”
Did you know the Oscars has been going on for 91 years? The first Academy Awards ceremony, commonly known as the Oscars, was held on May 16, 1929. Some 270 guests, including prominent film stars, directors and influential producers, gathered in a hotel on Hollywood Boulevard for the ceremony and accompanying banquet dinner. The not-yet-televised prize ceremony only lasted around 15 minutes!
On Friday February 7, our very own Br. Tom hosted a pre-Oscars party for our Residents, complete with fun appetizers, champagne, and decorations galore. We are thankful and always excited to be able to put on these events for our Residents to enjoy.
We were shown a very interesting mini movie on history of the Oscars, made predictions for this year’s Oscars winners, and tested our knowledge playing a competitive trivia game of past winners. Br. Tom, being a film fanatic, educated us on lots of fun facts throughout the party. Thank you, Br. Tom, for all your hard work!
