“In the presence of the Blessed Trinity and of Mary Immaculate, I renew with all my heart my profession of the evangelical counsels, and promise God to observe faithfully the vows of Chastity, Poverty, Obedience and Hospitality which I have made forever in the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Poor.”
On Saturday, May 20, we hosted a Collegial Jubilee for seven Little Sisters of the Chicago Province, celebrating milestone anniversaries. Our dear friend, Fr. Mark Cregan C.S.C , who is General Council for the Little Sisters of the Brooklyn Province, traveled from Totawa, NJ to celebrate the Mass of Thanksgiving.
Front Row (left to right) – Mother Marcel Joseph (50 yrs., Chicago), Sr. Catherine (25 yrs., Gallup, NM), Sr. Caroline John (25 yrs., Denver), Sr. Ann Marguerite (25yrs., Chicago).
Back row (left to right) – Mother Provincial Maria Christine, Sr. Maria de la Luz (25 yrs., Chicago), Fr. Mark Cregin, Sr. Mary Augustine (50 yrs., Denver) and Mother Patricia Mary (50yrs., Denver).
After Mass, the Little Sisters visited with Residents in the dining room, reconnecting with old friends and greeting new ones.
To complete the celebration, a special Italian dinner (complete with red and white checkered napkins) was prepared by Mother Maria Christine’s sister, Molly and the assistance of our summer interns.
We thank God for the gift of the ministry of the Little Sisters of the Poor. Their dedication and humility touch so many lives and is truly an inspiration. They are so often behind the scenes caring for everyone else’s needs. It was nice to have the opportunity to treat them and to honor the Jubilarians combined 250 years of service!
