A Visit from the Love Bus
Every year on Valentine’s Day, dozens of talented students arrive on Hersey High School’s “Love Bus” for a show stopping morning of entertainment. With cheers, baton twirling, song, and dance performances, the students put on a performance fit for Broadway. The harsh winter weather was soon forgotten as the student entertainers’ contagious enthusiasm and joy brightened our day.
After the show, the Hersey High School students wished everyone a Happy St. Valentine’s Day! Bidding us farewell until next Valentine’s Day, the students told us that this long standing tradition of visiting and performing for us is one of the highlights of their year.
A Delivery from Cupid
Who could resist the love that radiated from Cupid (four year old Daisy) during her visit? Dressed in a sequined red dress and white wings, she pushed along a “love” cart filled with cards and sweet treats. Cupid greeted each Resident with a heartwarming smile and a presented them with a special Valentine’s gift.
AJJ Valentine Happy Hour
Topping off our Valentine celebration was a special Happy Hour hosted by members of the Association of Jeanne Jugan (AJJ). On the menu were delectable appetizer trays filled with bruchetta, stuffed cherry tomatoes, pinwheels, cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches, meatballs and egg rolls, lovingly prepared by the AJJ. With festive red table tops and heart centerpieces decorating the dining rooms, appetizers and cocktails were served to Residents.
While we strive every day to make love the key in all that we do for our Residents, Valentine’s Day offers us a unique opportunity to fill their hearts with a special outpouring of our love.
